Superpower: Distilling complex strategies and missions into clear messages that inform and inspire

Benita Singh is an award-winning social entrepreneur turned communications leader, committed to helping mission-driven organizations communicate effectively, inspirationally and in a way that drives measurable impact.

Her leadership in the world of social entrepreneurship dates back to her co-founding of the fair trade non-profit organization Mercado Global. Since then, she has dedicated her career to supporting the growth of the artisan and handcraft economy. As the Founder & CEO of Le Souk, she built the first B2B sustainable textile sourcing platform. And most recently, she served as the Chief Communications & Advocacy Officer at Nest, a non-profit dedicated to unlocking the power of craft to support over 250,000 artisans around the world.  In this capacity, she conceived of and oversaw a range of cause marketing programming, including the collaboration between Etsy & the Gee’s Bend Quilters and the announcement of Williams-Sonoma’s $50MM commitment to source Nest Ethically Handcrafted product.

For her work as a social entrepreneur, Benita has been recognized by Echoing Green, the Cartier Women’s Initiative and LinkedIn Next Wave as an Under 35 Leader in Retail. She received her B.A. from Yale University in Comparative Literature and International Studies, and is currently honing her communications craft in the CMO Program at Columbia Business School.
