Superpower: Using empathy to make and foster human connections that drive growth and impact in mission-driven organizations.

With more than 15 years working in the social sector including community foundations, nonprofits and as a Peace Corps Volunteer (Dominican Republic), Lara’s life mantra comes from the Athenian Oath she took upon graduating from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University with a Master of Public Administration. “We will transmit this city not only not less, but greater, better and more beautiful than it was transmitted to us.”

Lara feels most satisfied when she is making authentic connections between philanthropists and social impact organizations. She believes in the transformative effects of education and has been working at the intersection of social issues such as literacy and philanthropy for most of her career. Lara is an agile advocate for social causes, having worked at the national, regional and local levels.

Lara Sepanski Pimentel is fluent in Spanish and English. She graduated with a BS from Old Dominion University and MPA from Syracuse University. She was honored to be a Snow Fellow during her time at Maxwell. Lara lives in Upstate New York with her husband and two children.
